Barbara Gallagher

Barbara Gallagher's music has been performed regionally by several orchestras, is widely published and broadcast on radio, including NPR, Sirius, and Pandora, and she composed the theme music for WBPL's "Carolina Catholic" radio show. A recipient of numerous awards. grants, and commissions, she holds degrees from The Juilliard School, studying with Vincent Persichetti, and UNC School of the Arts, where she studied with Robert Ward and Sherwood Shaffer. Ms. Gallagher lives in Wilmington, N.C., and works as a church musician, private music teacher, and freelance composer. "THE FLOWERS" was composed for the Tallis Chamber Orchestra for their 2009 Azalea Festival concert; it features songs about several flower varieties, and also uses a musical variation theme built from notes derived from the letters of the word F-L-O-W-E-R-S.
